Yasaka Shrine is one of the most famous shrines in Kyoto and a popular spot for tourists. As you enter Yasaka Shrine and head to the right of the main hall, you will come across the Nandaimon Gate. The torii gate standing in front of the Nandaimon Gate is actually designated as an Important Cultural Property. To the left of the Nandaimon Gate, you will find Nakamura-rou, a longstanding establishment with a dignified presence. With a history dating back to about 450 years ago during the Muromachi period, Nakamura-rou is known to have been visited by Ryoma Sakamoto, a prominent figure in Japanese history. Additionally, next to Nakamura-rou, there is a cafe called Nikenchaya where you can enjoy a hidden Kyoto-style cafe experience.
