神蹟の一つ、御劔社（みつるぎしゃ）。この社は、神の祠などがなくなった跡地を指す言葉で、長者社とも呼ばれています。能や謡曲「小鍛治」の舞台として知られ、小鍛治が稲荷大神の化身に助けられ、名刀小狐丸を鍛え上げた逸話で有名です。また、お塚郡の階段を登った場所には、縄で巻かれた巨大な岩である「雷石」があり、雷神を封じていると伝えられています。この雷石は観光客によって見過ごされがちですが、実際に訪れた際には必見のスポットと言えます。

One of the sacred sites, Mitsurugi Shrine, is known as a “shinseki,” which refers to the remains of a shrine dedicated to a deity. Another shrine in the area is called Chojasha. Mitsurugi Shrine is famous for being the stage for Noh and the traditional Japanese musical drama “Kokaji,” where it is said that Kokaji, a legendary swordsmith, was assisted by the deity Inari no Okami in forging the renowned sword Kokoromaru. Additionally, at the top of the stairs in the Otuka district, there is a huge rock wrapped in ropes known as the “Raiishi,” which is said to seal the thunder god. While this Raiishi might be easily overlooked by tourists, it is actually a must-see point of interest worth visiting.
